A very old variety with showy velvety, violet-black bitone blooms with long falls and dark violet standards. The violet beards are touched with yellow.
Introduced by Paul Cook (one of the great hybridises of the iris world) in 1936 from multiple parents and giving rise to over 100 child plants.
Honourable Mention in 1937 and an Award of Merit in 1940.
