Very Early to Mid Season flowering, April through to early July in the UK.

Velvety, very dark reddish purple Self blooms.

Grow in full sun or part shade. Equally at home in the flower border, or a moist (even bog) garden, by a pond or stream edge but not in water.

Hybridised by Currier McEwen in 1981 from Ruffled Velvet X Tealwood.

Receiving an Honourable Mention in 1983 and an Award of Merit in 1985.
