Double Lament
Historic British Standard Dwarf Bearded Iris 30cm.
VERY RARE
Mid Season flowering, May in the UK.
Violet self with a very dark flush on the falls and orange beards.
Hybridised by John Taylor in 1969 from (Green Spot x pumila) X Velvet Caper.
The first listing was in the Orpington Nursery Catalogue in 1969 after trials at Wisley.
John was well known and respected worldwide in the iris community, becoming the British Iris Society President 1970-73. Many of his iris are named after family and friends, his daughter-in-law Carilla (Taylor) went on to hybridise iris herself.
