Iris versicolor, (Synonym f. murrayana) 90cm. Very versatile Species iris.

Known by many common names; blue flag, northern flag, harlequin and Boston iris.

Flowering in June and July in the UK.

Purple Self blooms with yellow veined throat.

Happy growing in full sun to part shade. Grows well in garden borders in moist or wet soils, such as a bog garden, along the edge of a stream or ponds, even in water up to 10cm deep.

Native to North America, in the Eastern United States and Eastern Canada.
