Very tall unique variety. Species iris X robusta 120cm.

Mid Season flowering, June in the UK.

In spring dark purple foliage emerges which fades to green but retains a violet colouring at the base. Flowers are blue-violet and the yellow throat has strong white veining. 

Prolific flowering, loved by pollinators and makes a great cut flower.

Grow in rich moist soil in sun or part shade. A marginal pond plant, happy in 10cm or less of water.

Hybridised by Gerald Darby in 1968. It appears to belong to I. x robusta, the cross of I. versicolor with I. virginica.

Sets few good seeds. Appears to belong to I. x robusta, E. Anderson, the cross of I. versicolor with I. virginica. Norton Hall 1967.
